Overview

Stacy A. Woods is a shareholder with Dougherty, Molenda, Solfest, Hills & Bauer P.A. She brings nearly three decades of legal experience advising municipalities, businesses, lenders, developers, property owners, and individuals in matters involving municipal law, real estate, redevelopment, estate planning, probate, business law, and civil litigation.

Stacy has extensive experience serving as city attorney and trusted legal advisor to municipal clients. Her work includes advising city managers, department heads, city councils, planning commissions, and economic development authorities on day-to-day governance, land use, redevelopment, code enforcement, ordinance drafting, administrative enforcement, and litigation-avoidance strategies. She has led legal work on significant redevelopment and public-infrastructure projects, including commercial redevelopment, easement acquisition, demolition, and construction-related matters.

In addition to her municipal practice, Stacy has a deep background in real estate law. She has handled all phases of real estate transactions, including conveyancing, development, leasing, title matters, Torrens proceedings, easements, condemnation, commercial loan documentation, and related litigation. She has represented lenders, title insurers, businesses, and property owners in disputes involving mortgages, fraud, foreclosures, receiverships, personal guaranties, commercial leases, and other real estate and business matters.

Stacy also assists clients with estate planning, probate, business formation, governance, succession planning, and asset and stock sales. Her broad transactional and litigation background allows her to provide practical, responsive counsel focused on helping clients solve problems efficiently and avoid unnecessary disputes.

Stacy is certified by the Minnesota State Bar Association as a Real Property Law Specialist and has been active in real estate law leadership for many years. She has served on the MSBA Real Property Council, including as Treasurer, and has been a long-time member of the MSBA Real Property Section Legislative Committee. She previously chaired the Hennepin County Bar Association Real Property Section and has presented on real estate-related topics for Minnesota CLE, the Real Estate Institute, and other continuing legal education programs.
