Appeals

Our litigation attorneys routinely handle appeals to higher courts.  Our attorneys represent appellants and respondents.  Many of our attorneys are former law clerks who began their careers working for appellate judges and providing the research used by those judges to make appellate decisions.  Our attorneys have handled numerous appeals before the Minnesota Court of Appeals and the Minnesota Supreme Court.  Our attorneys have also handled appeals in the U.S. Supreme Court, the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals and the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals, to name a few.

A Unique Approach

Our attorneys develop strategies to preserve appellate issues before the need for an appeal arises.  By making appropriate objections and asserting arguments designed to preserve issues for later appeal, our attorneys position each litigation case for a strong appeal if that becomes necessary.

In any appeal, our appellate lawyers understand that knowledge is power, and that effective and thorough research of the applicable law can mean the difference between winning and losing.  Our attorneys and staff draw on personal and professional experience, oftentimes through cross-practice collaboration, to provide synergies that lead to successful research, writing and appellate practice.

Appellate Experience

Our attorneys have appellate experience in a wide variety of practice areas and industries, in both state and federal court. In recent years, our attorneys have secured reversals at the Minnesota Supreme Court in cases that modified Minnesota law in significant respects.
